Great build - thanks for sharing, I too am building the robot in aluminum and my setups and fixture are very different - I learned a lot from your experience.
During these days i completethe robot and driver cabling and test, so it is finish. Somethis is to do but robot works fine.
I also install the Raspberry software so i will move soon the control to this platform.
Two questions:
Is it possible to use the Xbox controller with Rasperry and AR2?
And, is there a way to change the usage of button and control of the Xbox controller to use, for example, the joypads for moving different axis of robot without change the axis selection?
I'm not sure about using the controller on the Pi, Im using the py inputs module to bring in the xbox inputs from Windows. Im not sure how the inputs module works on Linux perhaps @Zach Allen would have some insight on that. I tried using the analog stick but the event codes that the inputs module brought in didnt seem stable so I just used the D pad. If you look at the source code this is handled starting at line 1045 - I need to do more research on the analog input of the joysticks to be able to give you a better answer on that.
Awesome build series, @Alessandro! Currently, the only version of the AR2 software for the RPi is the previous version (2.1.5?), before Chris added support for the Xbox controller. I’m (slowly) working on adapting the latest version for the Raspberry Pi. Unfortunately, at this time, I can’t advise on how to use the Xbox controller with the Raspberry Pi. I’ll add it to my list of things to look into, but if you are able to figure anything in the meantime, let me know!

Thank you for sharing your excellent work!
Looks awesome!!!
Thank you for your replay. I will try ...

Wow, very impressive. thank you for sharing.
Chris, i will send to you by mail the cover 3d model so you can share it for other users.
Rear cover during printing ...
Soon the software on Arduino, raspberry and the final test.
I am also thinking to put the raspberry and display in the cover of the driver box.
As you see, i used a IP67 explorer cases from italian SOCEPI.
This are very similar to PELI waterproof case but the cost is very lower and quality is very good.
It is possible i will also do a carrying case for the robot with this type of case.
Bye
Also the driver box is to the final stage ...
It use two aviation connector for steppers and one keystone cat6 jack for home switch
