There are 5 groups of parts needed to build the AR2 or the AR3 robot:

  • Covers and Spacers - these are 3D printed parts you print yourself (see the Bill of Materials at the beginning of the robot assembly manual)

  • Structural Components - these are the 27 main structural parts, you can 3D print them yourself or you can purchase aluminum components listed below (also see Bill of Materials at the beginning of the robot assembly manual).

  • Hardware Components - these includes all the bearings, belts, pulleys, sprockets, chain, shafts, pins, screws etc. these parts are available in a kit listed below or you can source yourself (see Bill of Materials at the beginning of the robot assembly manual).

  • Stepper Motors and Drivers - these are available in a package directly from Stepper Online (see link on this page - also see Bill of Materials at the beginning of the robot assembly manual).

  • Electrical components - these are all the misc electrical components needed for the robot, enclosure and wiring harness.  These components are all available from Amazon or Ali Express and are listed in the Bill of Materials section at the beginning of the robot assembly manual.

Please also review all tutorial videos listed on the Tutorials page.  The setup/calibration videos as well as the programming videos are very helpful in understanding how the robot works.

I have had numerous complaints about the AR3 robots being sold on AliExpress and Ebay -  These are not being sold by Annin Robotics. They are illegal counterfeits that violate the projects US copyright and terms of use.  These robots come only partially assembled and do not have any wiring harness, the motors (encoders) they are providing are not compatible with the AR3 software and have a number of issues.  The control box they provide is open loop and for the AR2 and they are providing illegal copies of the older AR2 software.  Please do not sent me frustrated emails if you have purchased one of these - they are not being sold by Annin Robotics.  The AR3 free design project is intended to be a DIY platform at the lowest possible cost - not to resell for profit.
