I built a custom robot and have been setting up all the parameters. I used it to jog the robot around and everything was working. After closing the app I tried to reopen it and the app won't start. I see the black screen... then after a long pause I see the small white window popup and then go away. Nothing after that. I tried restarting the computer and that didn't help.
I finally gave up and installed the software on a new computer and started over. I am now having the same problem on the second computer. After using the app it won't reopen. Even after a computer restart.
How do I troubleshoot, or what is the solution if this has happened others.
Both computers use windows 10 64 bit. I am happy to add any other information you might need.
Update... I redownloaded the files, unzipped and opened the new download on the same computer. It now seems that once I change parameters, or use it a few times it won't open again.
you delete your whole folder and download again. i think the parameter you set cause calculation wrong. Every time it happen just re-extract the content (or, remove the setting files)
@Kstan Simit you understand correctly, but clearly this is not a solution right? Also I don’t know which file is the calibration data file. Which, as far as I can tell, is the only file I am changing. I haven’t tested if it continues to work/ open properly if I don’t change the calibration data. As a side note: the first time I open the program after extraction I get a warning that windows firewall has block the program from opening. i can override that and it works for one cycle as mentioned above. I tried turning off windows firewall but that did not fix the problem. However it might be a clue. There are no firewall warnings on subsequent openings.
I can’t recall which file name, u just sort file according modified date time will know the latest changes isn’t it?
After trying it on several devices including going back to the AR2 software on raspberrry pi I think I have it resolved. If I only replace the IRbot.cal file it starts working again. So I very carefully changed the parameters one at a time, saved data, and reopened the app. If I add a decimal to the steps parameters it won't open. I made them all whole numbers and the problem seems to have gone away. I was pretty sure I saw in one of the videos Chris had fractional/decimal numbers there, but either way it seems to be working for now. I can adjust the angle instead of the steps to get it dialed in.
