I am building the AR3 robot and noticed that there is a lot of play in the J2 joint. Is this normal?
Does it only move a certain amount in both directions? My guess would be a semi loose grub/set screw on the flat portion of the shaft.
I haven’t fully constructed the robot yet so am not sure how it moves under power. At the moment I am just moving the motor with my hand and was trying to demonstrate the play in the arm. Do you think this is caused by the backlash in the motor or is the play too much?
Something doesn't look right, from the video it looks like the arm is working fine and at a certain point falls back. Does it drive OK in the forward direction? How much play does it have when you physically move the arm itself? I'm wondering if the planetary gears are correctly back in position after reinstalling the motor end cap/shaft. I've seen issues in the past when one of the planetary gears is not on its locating pin.
